Macaroni Crunch


1 tablespoon polyunsaturated vegetable oil
2 onions, peeled and chopped
225 g/8 oz wholemeal macaroni
1 x 400 g/14 oz can tomatoes
225 g/8 oz Cheddar cheese, grated
2 tablespoons Bran Flakes


Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the onions for 10 minutes. In a deep casserole dish, arrange layers of onion, uncooked macaroni and tomatoes, together with all but 2 tablespoons of the cheese. Mix the Bran Flakes with the remaining cheese for the topping and bake in a preheated moderate oven (160'C/325 °F, Gas Mark 3) for 1 hour.
